"vitrograph vines" - Contemporary Handmade Glass Platter in Blue
vitrograph vines
12 in x 8 in
Glass
Glass Finish: Semi-Glossy
We make vitrograph, which is basically a bunch of glass melted and then pulled in strings, in my class and I always admire it but this is the first time I’ve used it in a piece. I normally go for the straight lines and angles and stuff but here I am being all flowy and frolicky! With blue and pink! And of course the blasting of the sand.

About the process:
Handmade kiln-formed glass is an art and science that produces truly one of a kind pieces. Sheet glass, ground glass, powdered glass, metals, paints and enamels are formed together using myriad techniques and then fired up to 1500f for many hours -- often multiple times -- to achieve the beautiful, sometimes geometric and sometimes organic forms that are never *quite* perfect. Bubbles, soft lines, and uneven edges are often natural features of kiln-formed glass.
- Food safe unless otherwise noted.
- Dishwasher and microwave use not recommended.
- Colors may appear slightly differently in digital photos than on the physical piece.
